Veteran property tax benefits
Eligible veterans may receive a property tax exemption of $6,000 on the assessed value of their primary residence.
To qualify, veterans must have been a resident of Wyoming for at least three years before claiming the exemption.
In addition, at least one of the following must be true:
- You served during WWII, the Korean War, or the Vietnam War
- You received an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal or equivalent
- You have a VA disability rating of 10% or higher
- You are the unmarried surviving spouse of an eligible veteran

Veteran vehicle registration benefits
Wyoming offers several different specialty license plates for veterans including former POW, Gold Star, and Purple Heart plates.
Disabled Wyoming veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 50% or more are eligible for the Wyoming Disabled Veteran license plate. The first license plate is free and exempt from registration fees
Additionally, honorably discharged veterans can request a veteran designation on their driver license and ID cards at no additional fee.

Veteran education benefits
Overseas combat veterans and their surviving spouses and dependents can receive tuition assistance to attend the University of Wyoming or any of the state’s community colleges.
To qualify, veterans must have been a Wyoming resident for at least one year before entering active duty, and they must have been honorably discharged.
Surviving dependents of the veteran qualify if the service member died while on active duty.

Veteran hunting and fishing licenses
Wyoming offers several hunting and fishing license benefits to qualifying veterans, including free Wyoming game bird, fish, and small game licenses for veterans with a 100% VA disability rating.
Additionally, resident veterans with a rating of at least 50% are eligible for a free lifetime fishing license from the state.
