Vermont veteran property tax benefits

Surviving spouses of eligible veterans may also qualify for this exemption.
Vermont veteran income tax benefits
Taxes on military retirement pay are exempt for Vermont veterans whose adjusted gross income is $125,000 or less. Lesser exemptions are available for veterans making more than $125,000 a year but under $175,000.
Additionally, Vermont veterans with an adjusted gross income of $25,000 or less can receive a $250 refundable tax credit. This amount decreases as the veteran’s income increases, and no credit is available for veterans who earn more than $30,000.

The state also offers several veteran and military specialty plates, including POW, Purple Heart, disabled veteran plates, and more. Some of these license plates require a one-time fee.

Vermont also offers high school diplomas to wartime veterans who left high school before receiving their diploma to serve in the military.
