Honor Flight of Southern Indiana, Inc. announced today Woods & Woods will be the Tour of Honor Sponsor for the September 26 Honor Flight, which will enable 86 military veterans to fly to Washington, D.C., for the day.
“Honor Flight of Southern Indiana (HFSI) is incredibly grateful to Woods & Woods for sponsoring our EVV21 flight,” said Mike Freeman, president of Honor Flight Southern Indiana. “This isn’t just a corporate donation–it’s a direct investment in our local heroes giving them closure, healing, and camaraderie at the memorials built in their honor. Thanks to the generosity of Woods & Woods, EVV21 is going to be an unforgettable opportunity for everyone involved.”
As the Tour of Honor Sponsor, Woods & Woods is contributing $50,000 to help make the September 26 flight possible. The firm previously sponsored HFSI’s ten-year anniversary flight in 2024.
“We were so grateful to sponsor Honor Flight of Southern Indiana in 2024, and we’re thrilled to do it again this year,” said Neil Woods, president of Woods & Woods. “While we work with veterans nationwide, it’s a special honor to be able to make an impact locally.”
Founded in 2014, HFSI has flown a total of 1,566 veterans — 391 WWII, 542 Korea, 577 Vietnam, and 56 Lebanon/Grenada/Other — to the nation’s capital to see the memorials erected in their honor at no cost to them.
The day’s agenda is packed full of activity beginning in the early hours of the morning as the veterans depart Evansville Regional Airport on a chartered plane to D.C. where they’ll visit the World War II Memorial, Korea Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Tomb of the Unknown, Iwo Jima Marine Corp Memorial, and a city tour of Washington, D.C. before heading back home that night to a welcome home parade. Four veterans will also be randomly selected to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown.
