Woods & Woods is the Tour of Honor Sponsor for Honor Flight Southern Indiana’s 10th anniversary flight

Evansville, IN – Honor Flight of Southern Indiana, Inc. announced today Woods & Woods, LLC will be the Tour of Honor Sponsor for the October 5 Honor Flight to enable 86 military veterans to fly to Washington, D.C., for the day.

The EVV17 Honor Flight marks HFSI’s 10th anniversary and its 17th flight.

“We are forever grateful to Woods & Woods for their generous donation of $43,000 for our cause,” said Jerry Blake, president of Honor Flight of Southern Indiana, Inc. “We look forward to the Woods & Woods team volunteering at upcoming events prior to our EVV17 Honor Flight and on October 5 flight day. This donation will make a difference in our HFSI mission. We hope to continue a long-lasting relationship between HFSI and Woods & Woods along with their team members.”

Woods & Woods President Neil Woods attended the welcome home parade for EVV1, the first Evansville honor flight, 10 years ago. He said it was a moving experience he will always remember.

“Ten years later, my law firm is in a position to be able to sponsor this amazing organization and I couldn’t be more proud,” Woods said. “I’ve seen how much Honor Flight means to the veterans who are involved. Supporting this organization is a great way to say thank you and honor those who protected our freedoms as Americans.”

Founded in 2014, HFSI has flown a total of 1221 veterans—393 WWII, 499 Korea, 295 Vietnam and 34 Lebanon/Grenada—to the nation’s capital to see the memorials erected in their honor at no cost to them.

The day’s agenda is packed full of excitement beginning in the early hours of the morning as the Veterans depart Evansville Regional Airport on a chartered plane to D.C. where they’ll visit the World War II Memorial, Korea Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Tomb of the Unknown, Iwo Jima Marine Corp Memorial and a city tour of Washington D.C. before heading back home that night to a huge welcome home parade. There will even be four Veterans randomly selected to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown.
