Veteran home loan benefits
Oregon’s home loan program offers qualifying veterans a fixed-rate financing for a single-family residence, “up to the Fannie Mae limit.”
To eligible, one of the following must be true:
- The veteran applicant’s service meets time, date, and discharge requirements found here
- The honorably discharged veteran applicant a combat, campaign, or expeditionary medal or ribbon
- The veteran applicant is receiving a VA nonservice-connected pension

Veteran property tax benefits
Veterans receiving at least 40% disability may qualify for a partial property tax exemption. Surviving spouses may also qualify.
Exemptions may be either $26,303 or $31,565 of your home’s assessed value. Each exemption level has specific requirements the veteran must meet, but regardless the property must be the residence the applicant lives in to qualify.

Veteran vehicle registration benefits
Honorably discharged veterans with a service-connected disability may be eligible for a disabled veteran license plate. The plate does not offer handicap parking access or other privileges.
Other honorably discharged veterans can get specialty veteran recognition plates found here, and may also qualify to add a veteran designation to their license or ID card.
Veteran education benefits
The Veteran Educational Bridge Grant provides grants up to $5,000 for veterans struggling to complete their training or education due to debt on their student account or unavailability of required courses.
Veterans and their dependents can attend institutions at in-state tuition costs, no matter how long they have lived in the state or whether they are considered a permanent resident.

Veteran hunting and fishing licenses
Disabled veterans with a 25% disability rating or higher who have been an Oregon resident for at least six months qualify for a free hunting and angling license.
