Ohio VA disability benefits
Veterans in Ohio are eligible for the same federal VA disability compensation as veterans in any other state. However, each state offers some of its own unique benefits for veterans who are considered disabled by the VA. While some benefits are available only for 100% disabled veterans in Ohio, most are available to other veterans with lower disability ratings. Veteran home loan/mortgage benefits
The Ohio Housing Finance Agency offers veterans an interest rate 0.25% lower than the going interest rate through the Ohio Heroes Program.
The agency also offers a first-time homebuyer program to honorably discharged veterans.
Veteran property tax benefits
Veterans with a 100% disability rating may be eligible for up to a $50,000 exemption from the market value of their primary residence.
Veteran income tax benefits
Some veterans receiving retired military pay are eligible for the Ohio income tax deduction. Any other state income tax benefits are the same as federal benefits.

Veterans with a 100% disability rating are not required to pay a registration fee for their motor vehicle and are eligible for a free, state of Ohio driver’s license.
